Workday Training
Where is Workday training available?
As of January 4, 2021, all training is now available directly in Workday via the Workday Learning application on your home page. After clicking the Workday Learning app, employees can search for materials using keywords and enroll in courses.
What do I use Workday for?
All UA System employees will use Workday to complete employee self-service tasks, such as changing contact information and viewing payslips. Learn more about employee self-service in Workday in this infographic.
If I’m a UA System employee and a “light” user, I will use Workday to:
- View my personal information, payslips, benefits, and time off balance.
- Enter my time off and leave of absence requests.
- Enter my hours worked if I’m an hourly/overtime-eligible employee.
- Submit my expense reports for travel and personal reimbursements.
- Submit my procurement card charges for review and approval.
- Enroll and change my benefit elections and enter my dependents.
- Use Employee Self-Service (ESS) to update my personal information, direct deposit, and tax withholding elections.
Training consists of online resources, including user guides and on-demand instructional videos available in Workday Learning.
If I am responsible for human resources, finance, or administrative functions, I will use Workday to:
- Create positions and job requisitions.
- Hire and manage an employee’s employment lifecycle.
- Manage compensation elements for my employees.
- Initiate transactions on behalf of employees in my organization such as updating employee information, submitting expense reports, and entering time.
- Approve processes and transactions.
- Create requisitions and purchase orders.
- Run reports to view information for employees in my organization.
Training for highly impacted users is instructor-led, however other online resources such as self-paced computer-based training, user guides, and on-demand instructional videos are available in Workday Learning.
If I’m a Faculty member, I will use Workday to:
- View academic information including my current appointments, tenure, as well as track and rank information.
- Work with my Grants Administrator to manage my grant expenditures and timelines.
- Submit my effort certification for current projects.
- Submit my expense reports for travel and personal reimbursements.
- Submit my procurement card charges for review and approval.

If I’m a Student Employee, I will use Workday to:
- Enter my hours worked.
